I lived in a neighborhood in Richmond in grad school that at the time there were a lot of drive bys and car jackings. I choose to not tell my parents that Richmond had the highest murder rate for a city its size in the US at the time. I don't think I told them when there was a murder of the security guard at the McD's I worked at.

Lovely!!!!! I've heard about your neighborhood being dangerous - apparently one of your neighbors is Andrew Sullivan, and he's mentioned the dangers recently.
At least stay alive long enough for me to visit you!!!! :)
